Sod & Seed Installation
New lawns established with mountain-adapted sod or seed blends. Proper soil preparation for Asheville's clay-heavy terrain.
Whether you're starting from bare dirt on a new build or replacing a worn-out lawn, getting the soil right is everything in the Blue Ridge. Our clay soils compact easily and drain poorly without proper amendment. Blue Ridge Lawn & Landscape begins every sod and seed project with soil testing, then amends with compost, lime, and organic matter to create the growing conditions that mountain-adapted fescue needs to thrive. We source sod from regional farms that grow turf in similar soil and elevation conditions, so transplant stress is minimal. Seeded lawns use certified Blue Tag fescue blends selected for our zone and elevation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is sod or seed better for my new lawn?
Sod gives instant results and is excellent for erosion-prone slopes. Seed is more economical for large areas and allows us to use premium fescue blends tailored to your specific conditions. We often combine both, using sod on slopes and seed on flatter areas.
When is the best time to plant a new lawn in Asheville?
Early fall, from mid-September through mid-October, is the ideal seeding window. Cool nights, warm soil, and fall rains give fescue the best start. Spring seeding works but requires more watering and weed management through summer.
